Welcome to Avant Garde Cafe, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Busan at 121 Okcheon-ro, Saha-gu. This delightful cafe is perfectly situated just a stone's throw away from the breathtaking views of the renowned Gamcheon Cultural Village. If you're searching for a cozy spot to unwind with a refreshing drink and take in some of the most picturesque sights in the area, look no further.

The outdoor dining area offers an ambiance unlike any other, allowing you to bask in the enchanting scenery while savoring your chosen delicacies. Many customers have raved about the extraordinary views and serene environment that Avant Garde Cafe provides—a perfect escape from the bustling streets of Busan.

While you sip on your drink, you can indulge in their selection of delightful cakes and desserts. As one customer, Lawrence Tang, noted, the drinks and cheesecake here are simply "decent" but coupled with the stunning view, they provide an experience that transcends just food and drink. It’s not just about satisfyingly delicious beverages; it’s about enhancing your trip with a taste of local beauty.

Another patron, Cate LA, mentioned the cafe’s “spectacular view” of the cultural village and noted that while the coffee was good, it lacked soy milk options—a minor downside to an otherwise stellar visit. Many appreciate the fact that the cafe allows you to gaze over the colorful rooftops of Gamcheon while savoring each bite of their delicious cakes.

The atmosphere inside offers a cozy retreat, particularly on colder days when sitting outside might feel a bit chilly and windy. On those days, stepping inside the warm interior becomes an inviting alternative. It’s a shame, however, that some customers have mentioned the presence of a smoking area adjacent to the outdoor seating, which can sometimes detract from the overall experience. However, the enchanting views and delicious offerings seem to outweigh this small inconvenience for most visitors.

Customer Ed Uyeshima perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the cafe when he described it as having an "off-kilter appeal," which is exactly what the name Avant Garde suggests. This cafe feels like a portal to artistic inspiration, giving you a chance to pause, reflect, and embrace the unique culture that surrounds you.

With prices that many find reasonable for what is offered, it’s easy to get lost in the moment while sharing stories with friends or simply soaking in the surroundings. Customers like 1117withyou appreciated the great service and atmosphere while enjoying their selection of drinks and a "cookie thing" — perhaps a delightful local treat!

In summary, Avant Garde Cafe is not just a place to grab coffee and cakes; it’s an experience that enhances your visit to Busan's captivating cultural village. Whether you're here for a quick break before exploring more of Gamcheon or seeking comfort in a charming environment, this cafe is sure to make your memories of Busan even more memorable.

I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews, because the drinks are actually very tasty. They are not the cheapest but the view you get in return is actually much better than anywhere in the neighborhood, and the cafe was nearly empty when we were here. Magical!

When my husband and I grabbed a cab at Songjeon Station east of Haeundae, we had the driver take us to Gamcheon Culture Village, a fairly long journey across Busan. We had no specific drop-off destination in mind, so it made sense to stop in front of this cafe since the entry point into the village was just a few yards away. The name Avant Garde was no accident as there was an off-kilter appeal to the cafe with its comically snappish owner and the variety of tchotchkes and various LEGO sculptures on display. The biggest attraction, however, comes down to the impressive panoramic views of the village from the terrace but only if you buy food and/or drink here. No problem since we were feeling peckish anyway. We decided to order a couple of KRW 5,500 Iced Vanilla Lattes and a couple of KRW 3,000 pre-packaged Dacquoises, one strawberry, the other caramel. All of it was fine, well worth the price of the view, especially later in the afternoon.

Spectacular view of Gamcheon cultural village just a few steps from the bus stop. Delicious cakes. Coffee was good - no soy milk. Smokers room next to the deck gave the outside seating a stale smoke smell that spoiled the amazing outlook. Cold and windy in the winter outside but snug inside. If you aren’t up to walking the village you can just pull up a chair here and admire the scenery without any effort.

If you’re not planning on trekking up and down hills, this spot is pretty much the perfect place to soak in a cracking view. Even on a summer day over 30°C, the outdoor terrace felt plenty cool. To the right you get a cheeky ocean view, and the spacious terrace is ace for checking out the colourful houses. The lemonade hits the sweet spot and is properly refreshing. Tip: Forget about warm hospitality and nice smell toilet – they’re not part of the deal.

Good view to take photo. For tourists, Just pick one drink to snap photo. No need walk to opposite side because August is too hot.
